Mike Petcosky

Michael Petcosky, Chairman

Mike Petcosky is the Chairman and Co-Owner of Petcosky Companies. With over four decades of experience in the industry, Mike has been a driving force behind the organization’s success. He took over his father’s business in the early 1980s and officially incorporated Petcosky & Sons Plumbing and Heating in 1987. Partnering with his brother Tom, Mike expanded the company into a thriving residential and commercial plumbing and heating business. His vision also led to the creation of the fire protection division, which became a separate corporation, Petcosky Fire Protection Inc., in 2016. In 2020, the residential service and install departments were acquired by another company, allowing Mike to focus on commercial markets and future growth.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Delhi, Mike holds multiple Plumbing and HVAC licenses across more than 10 municipalities. His expertise ensures that Petcosky Companies consistently delivers superior service to its commercial clients. A family-oriented leader, Mike takes pride in having his children actively involved in the business and often jokes about his grandchildren eventually taking the reins.

Mike provides strategic direction to the company daily, working closely with the Pre-Construction departments to ensure they meet the needs of clients and employees alike. Behind the scenes, he plays a critical role in overseeing operations and guiding the company’s long-term vision.

Outside of work, Mike treasures time with his family, whether on vacations or camping trips with his children and four grandchildren—Parker, Cameron, Skylar, and Madison. An active community member, Mike has volunteered with the Vestal Fire Department since 1978 and serves on the Board of Directors at the local YMCA. His dedication to family and community remains a cornerstone of his leadership and the continued success of Petcosky Companies.


Justin Petcosky

Justin Petcosky, Chief Executive Officer

Justin Petcosky is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Owner of Petcosky Companies. He began his journey with the company in 2007, working in Petcosky & Sons Plumbing and Heating’s warehouse, where he gained firsthand experience in the foundational operations of the business. In 2009, Justin took on a pivotal role in launching the company’s Fire Protection division, which officially became Petcosky Fire Protection Inc. in 2016. Today, Justin oversees both the Mechanical and Fire Protection sides of the business, ensuring operational efficiency and a steadfast commitment to meeting customer needs.

Justin studied Fire Protection Technology at the State University of New York at Broome, which served as the inspiration for establishing the Fire Protection division. He holds a NICET Level III Certification in Water-Based Fire Protection Design and is a Licensed Master Plumber, equipping Petcosky Companies with superior design and engineering capabilities.

As CEO, Justin focuses on providing clear strategic direction and improving processes across the Operations, Pre-Construction, and Finance divisions to ensure streamlined efficiency and effective problem-solving. His leadership emphasizes innovation and a customer-first approach.

Outside of work, Justin values time with his family. He is a proud father to his daughters, Skylar and Madison, and enjoys weekend getaways with them and his wife, Erin, at their campsite. Justin has also been an active member of the Vestal Volunteer Fire Department since 2006, reflecting his dedication to both community and service.


Brian Terrell

Brian Terrell, President

Brian Terrell is the President and Co-Owner of Petcosky Companies. He began his journey with Petcosky Fire Protection Inc. in 2016, focusing on the growth of its Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance division. Over time, Brian expanded his role, taking on critical responsibilities across all organizations under the Petcosky Companies umbrella. He now oversees many of the day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the company.

Brian holds a NICET Level II Certification in Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems and serves on the NICET board, contributing to the development and administration of Level II testing standards. With deep expertise in NFPA 25 standards, Brian delivers exceptional service and technical insight to the company's clients.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his family. He is a devoted father to his two sons, Parker and Cameron, and actively participates in their activities, from traveling the country supporting them with their fishing tournaments and baseball games, to sitting in a tree stand with them during hunting season. He cherishes downtime with his wife, Krista, and their boys. Brian has also been a dedicated member of the volunteer fire service since 1993, demonstrating his enduring commitment to community service.


Paul Petcosky

Paul Petcosky - Our Founder

The patriarch of the Petcosky family, Paul Petcosky, began his career as a steamfitter for the State of New York in 1957. Paul started a small plumbing business on the side to support his growing family. His commitment to superior customer service and his reputation for excellence quickly led to the business's growth, driven largely by word of mouth.

At just 12 years old, Paul's youngest son, Mike, began helping with the family business, planting the seeds for what would eventually become Petcosky & Sons. Paul's vision, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit laid the foundation for the thriving organization that continues to bear the family name today.

Tim Klimchock, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP), has over 24 years of experience serving the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Since 2023, Tim has been advising Petcosky Companies, providing expert guidance on financial strategy and business development, contributing significantly to the company's growth and success.


Randy Stutzman

Randy Stutzman brings over 45 years of experience as a trusted advisor to construction contractors. His extensive background includes consulting on strategy, pricing, bidding, and enhancing field productivity. Since 2018, Randy has been advising Petcosky Companies, providing invaluable guidance to improve operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making for sustainable growth.

Vaughn G. Silar, Jr., PE, is a seasoned professional with expertise in construction, design, and operations. With decades of experience and strategic insight, Vaughn has been advising Petcosky Companies since 2024, providing invaluable guidance in project execution and innovative solutions. His combination of engineering expertise and entrepreneurial spirit ensures practical and forward-thinking support for the company's continued success.


Andrew Afarian Vice President of Operations

Andrew Afarian, Vice President of Operations

Andrew Afarian is the Vice President of Operations at Petcosky Companies. Since joining the organization in 2006, Andrew has played a key role in managing some of the company's largest and most complex projects. His expertise in coordinating with multiple stakeholders across diverse job sites, combined with his ability to adapt to shifting priorities, has been instrumental in the company's success.

With industry experience dating back to 1995, Andrew has developed extensive knowledge in mechanical and fire protection trades, earning the respect of his peers and associates. His leadership and operational skills continue to drive the efficient execution of projects and ensure high-quality results for Petcosky Companies' clients.

Raised in Vestal, Andrew now resides in Apalachin with his family. In his free time, he enjoys boating, home improvement, and tackling a variety of hands-on projects.


Dana Yacobelli

Dana Yacobelli, Vice President of Finance and Office Operations

Dana Yacobelli is the Vice President of Finance and Office Operations at Petcosky Companies. Since joining the organization in 2017, Dana has brought her extensive experience in accounting, finance, banking, computer systems, and customer service to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company. Her attention to detail and problem-solving expertise are key to maintaining the company's financial health and operational excellence.

Dana's career spans a diverse range of roles across the banking, corporate, and private sectors. Early in her career, she gained valuable experience as a consumer banker with Fleet Bank, where she honed her skills in lending and administrative processes. She has since held positions as a corporate financial analyst, private accountant, firm administrator, and VP of finance. Her international experience includes serving as a joint venture accountant with BAE Systems, fostering collaboration between US, UK, and French partnerships. In addition, Dana successfully built and operated her own shipping and consulting business, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit.

A lifelong New York State resident, Dana enjoys an active lifestyle outside of work. She is training her two dogs to compete in dog shows, following her passion for animal training. An accomplished equestrian, Dana has been riding and showing horses since childhood. She also loves running through the hills of Vestal, diving into a good book, and exploring her talent for home design and renovation.


Jay Green, PE Vice President of Pre-Construction & Design

Jay Green, PE, Vice President of Pre-Construction & Design

Jay Green, PE, is the Vice President of Pre-Construction & Design at Petcosky Companies. A licensed mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience, Jay joined the organization in 2018, bringing a wealth of expertise in the design and implementation of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. His background as an MEP design engineer provides Petcosky Companies with unparalleled technical insight and innovative solutions.

In his current role, Jay oversees estimating and design for fire protection, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Additionally, he leads all BIM-coordinated projects and serves as an instructor for the company's New York State Department of Labor-recognized fire sprinkler apprentice program, fostering the development of skilled professionals.

Jay's leadership and commitment to excellence have made him an integral part of Petcosky Companies, consistently driving the organization toward innovation and growth.

Outside of work, Jay enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, fishing, and kayaking with his wife and two children. He also dedicates his time to coaching his son's baseball teams during warmer months and supporting his daughter's gymnastics competitions during the winter.

PJ Jacobs

PJ Jacobs, Contract Administrator

PJ joined Petcosky Companies in 2015. With more than 32 years of knowledge and experience in the commercial construction industry, she has become an asset to our team. PJ coordinates with project owners, construction managers, project managers, subcontractors, estimators, and suppliers to achieve successful completion of our construction projects.

PJ is proficient in all aspects of construction accounting and auditing, insurance requirements, certified payroll, EEO/WMBE reporting, construction billing, and change order processing, and utilizes several online reporting and auditing systems to meet all contract requirements and Petcosky Companies customer needs. PJ graduated from the National Business Academy in California in 1988. She is also a New York State Public Notary.

In PJ's spare time, she enjoys studying biblical archaeology and historical research. PJ also enjoys spending time outdoors and fishing.


Anthony Bomysoad

Anthony Bomysoad, Purchasing Agent

After working in Warehouse / Logistics and Change Management for 14 years, Anthony joined the Petcosky Companies team in 2020 to help streamline purchasing and warehouse operations. Anthony has extensive logistics and material purchasing knowledge, helping ensure our projects are always in order.

Anthony is responsible for obtaining the best pricing for Petcosky Companies, purchasing all plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection materials, and ensuring our warehouse is operating efficiently. This ensures that the correct materials, in the correct quantity, are delivered to job sites efficiently. Anthony's success allows the company to pass those cost savings on to our customers.

Anthony enjoys hunting and fishing, and, more importantly, he loves spending time with his son and coaching his soccer teams.

Alison DeGraw - Dispatcher

Alison DeGraw, Dispatcher

Alison DeGraw is the Dispatcher for HVAC and Fire Protection Service at Petcosky Companies. With over 25 years of experience, Alison has been a valued member of the team since 1997. She plays a crucial role in coordinating service schedules, ensuring timely responses to customer needs, and keeping operations running smoothly.

Alison's dedication and organizational skills are integral to providing exceptional service to Petcosky Companies' clients. Her ability to manage complex schedules and maintain clear communication with both technicians and customers reflects her commitment to excellence.

Tyler Augare - Project Manager

Tyler Augare, Project Manager

Tyler Augare is a Project Manager for Petcosky Mechanical and has been with the company since 2020. Tyler oversees a wide range of projects, from mid-size installations to large-scale, complex mechanical systems. His role involves constant collaboration with multiple stakeholders across job sites, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards. Tyler’s strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities make him an invaluable member of the team.

With a career in the plumbing trade beginning in 2009, Tyler has developed extensive expertise in the industry and is highly respected for his technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

Originally from Montana, Tyler now resides in Apalachin, NY. He has a wife and two daughters. In his free time, Tyler enjoys hockey, hiking, and spending quality time with his family.


William Schultheis

William Schultheis, Project Estimator

William Schultheis is a Senior Estimator for Petcosky Mechanical. Will considers himself a problem solver and appreciates the innovation needed to bid contracts, manage projects, and meet deadlines while providing exemplary customer service. He feels tremendous satisfaction when he brings a bid to completion ahead of time and under budget.

During his career, Will collaborated with the team that constructed the World War II Memorial and upgraded the Gate Houses at the White House, located in Washington, DC. He has also worked on numerous projects for Binghamton University and The Guthrie Learning Center.

When Will is not working at Petcosky Mechanical, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and camping.


Chris Brinser

Chris Brinser, Service Manager

Chris Brinser is the Service Manager for Petcosky Mechanical and has been with the company since 2001. Chris started with Petcosky as an experienced service technician. Over the years, he has brought professionalism and respect to our service department and worked his way up the ladder to the Service Manager position in 2018. Since then, Chris has streamlined many of the company's processes, which has resulted in an improved service experience for customers and increased profitability for the department.

Chris started his career after attending SUNY Delhi from 1984 to 1986 for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. He began working for local HVAC companies right out of college, gaining experience and knowledge for many years. He also has attended several factory schools and has achieved several certifications, including North American Technician Excellence (NATE).

Chris is an avid sportsman in his spare time. Often, he can be found at the gun range sharpening his skills for competitive shooting matches, or in the woods hunting.

Joe Betkavsky

Joe Betkavsky, Project Manager

Joe Betkavsky joined Petcosky Companies in 2011 and has worked in many roles throughout the company, rising to the Project Manager role in Petcosky Fire Protection. He is currently tasked with managing the new construction division in our fire protection company and takes the role of managing the daily operations from the start of the project to final closeout documentation.

Joe also provides supporting roles in the estimating and service department as well as manages and administers our New York State Department of Labor-recognized fire sprinkler apprentice program. Joe has brought a great deal of knowledge to the company and has been a key player in the role of developing the fire protection company to the successful business it is today.

In Joe's spare time he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, hiking, golf, and camping with family and friends.


Jack Clark

Jack Clark, Fire Sprinkler Designer

Jack has been employed in the fire protection industry since the spring of 1995. Jack joined Petcosky Fire in 2019. He is proficient in many aspects of the business, from the initial bid process to determining design criteria, to laying out and designing fire protection systems. Jack's satisfaction at the end of the project is knowing that the system will perform as it was intended, protecting life and property.

Jack also has experience performing inspection, testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems as an Inspector. Jack holds a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III Certification in Water-Based System Layout and has spent most of his career laying out and designing water-based fire protection systems as an Engineer Technician.

Jack loves to spend time outdoors during his time off. Whether it's backpacking and kayaking in the Adirondacks, or spending time in the woods hunting, Jack is always looking to get outside. Jack also is an avid gun collector and loves to spend time at the range.


Brandon Kage – Fire Sprinkler Designer

Brandon Kage, Fire Sprinkler Designer

Brandon Kage is a Fire Protection Designer at Petcosky Fire Protection and has been with the company since 2020. A 2021 graduate of SUNY Delhi's Construction Management program, Brandon has also successfully completed the American Fire Sprinkler Association's Beginner Designer School, equipping him with a strong foundation in fire protection design and project management.

In his role, Brandon is responsible for submittal management and the design of fire protection systems, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and meet the highest standards of safety and quality. His attention to detail and dedication make him a valuable part of the Petcosky Fire Protection team.

Outside of work, Brandon enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. He is an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking and kayaking in his free time.


Phil Hildreth, Project Estimator

Phil Hildreth, Project Estimator

Phil Hildreth is the Project Estimator for Petcosky Fire Protection and has been a part of the fire protection industry since 1990, following his service in the United States Marine Corps. In his role, Phil plays a critical part in pricing and assisting with the design of fire protection systems, ensuring the company delivers efficient and cost-effective solutions for its clients.

Outside of work, Phil is deeply committed to community service. He is active with the American Legion and is a life member of the Marine Corps League. Phil also dedicates time to fundraising for charitable organizations, reflecting his passion for giving back.

Phil cherishes time with his family, including his wife, three children, and eight grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys being involved in his community and making a positive impact wherever he can.


Rick Allen, Service Manager

Rick Allen, Service Manager

Rick Allen is the Service Manager at Petcosky Fire Protection. Rick joined the company in 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his career in fire service. Before joining Petcosky Fire, Rick retired from the City of Binghamton Fire Department, where he served as Duty Chief / Shift Commander. His extensive background in fire safety and operations provides a strong foundation for his current role.

In addition to his career in fire protection, Rick has been an active volunteer firefighter since 1986, further demonstrating his dedication to the safety and well-being of his community. As Service Manager, Rick ensures that all customer fire protection services—including inspections, testing, and maintenance—are handled thoroughly and efficiently. He is also a New York State Fire Instructor with multiple certifications, enhancing his expertise and contribution to Petcosky Fire's services.

Outside of work, Rick enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. His family is a source of pride and inspiration, and he cherishes their time together. Rick's expertise, leadership, and commitment to safety make him a vital part of the Petcosky Fire Protection team.
